I LOVE Japanese Maples! I tried to grow one but it died.

Mom had her heart set on one when her basement got waterproofed. It was show piece for her landscaping. One established they will not die. But they need moisture that first year. I buried in it peat moss to hold moisture.

That was probably my JM problem, we don’t have a lot of moisture here. I might not have watered it enough – plus, our soil here is very rocky. I live on top of an old river bed.

It’ll take three years to notice any growth. I planted it for mom when her basement was waterproofed. It hasn’t changed except for losing leaves
