“Easement of any edge…” Raul pauses midthought. “Enough of a gap for evil to extract its ethereal control.”

“So exoteric ideas gain entry from afar, elsewhere to exact which emulsion?” Clyde plays along.
“The brain is the only equipment need to erase logic.” Raul is as tired of the political season as the partisan play that accompanys it.

Saturday Mix – Just to be Sure

“He was such a shallow man. Always try to show he had risen above hi snake like personality. Glad to see you succumb to illness.” Tina kicks dirt into the open grave. Her pale thin face sneaks a peek at the five other mourners. “It’s go to see you in the hole but it should be much further. I’d put you below Hell. Maybe that’s deep enough.”

Tina fakes a dab at her eyes. “They came just to be sure you’re dead also!”

Tale Weaver #140 – Water

“Come in Rogers. Are you there?” The silver box speaks again

“Piece of junk! Like the damn tin can that got us stuck here!” Rogers kicks a stone and tries it again. “Yes, we are here on this damn empty rock!”

“We have a read on you finally. We show ship is down. What’s your status?” the silver box squeals out it’s song.

“We’re stuck. Phillips is taping the ship together and calling this forsaken place Terra Firma. I’m looking for that water line on the map. I don’t think it works. The valve is missing.” Rogers calms down as he stares at the valve.

“You have 2 weeks worth of water left. You should just make a pick up if you can’t activate the ship.” the silver box continues “Check for life signatures, as your mission goals.”

“Well forget that life signature you saw here. The place is dead. Dead! Just like the two of us. Get another ship here. He can’t fix nothing without parts.” Rogers snaps back.

He touches the rusting wheel. His grandpa worked the waterline on Mars. He knew he wouldn’t be the one to die of thirst here.

I watch.   A door grows through a flaw in an otherwise good tree. I enter a mirabilis world.  I abandon plausible outside. In a Royal purple universe constellations anchored by blinding lucida spread their apotropaic light.

There is no evil here.

My mind drowns in a soften mess of politeness. Escape wrestles seething as I push foward a pointless conversation.  I give in to your sea of  exulansis.  Those glazed eyes, an adroit maneuver.  Am I boring you to death or soaking in an alien language….

“I have lost you,  haven’t I?”  My look at the table between us.

To which devil does one purchase this diabolist method from?   I’m asking myself a question she will never admit to.

Dragon’s Liar

“It’s right there.  Come on! Come on look!” Alex yells at Jackie.  His arms thrusting violently toward the tree.

“Alex, there’s nothing there.  It’s an old tree.  You are stupid.  Dragons don’t love here it’s not ugly enough.  My dad says so.  He had one as a kid!” Jackie tugs on his ball cap.  His mind is on throwing a ball around.  Big kid stuff.

“Your dad was going to build you a tree house.   You said.  I bet he knows the dragon lives here.” Alex kicks the trunk of the tree. “I saw him.  The dragon is green.  Shiny green, kinda dark like.  Sparkly. He is shy dragon.”

“Did you hear it roar?  Everyone knows a dragon roars to tell you it’s there.  If you scare a dragon they torch you with their breath.  But I told you.  They live in ugly places.  They need mist and something called gloom.  We ain’t got that.”  Jackie throws the ball on the air.  He missing it and it bounces toward the tree.

“The dragon did that.  He wants you to go see him.” Alex flashes a smile at Jackie.  His little heart jumping out of his chest.

“They can’t do that!”  Jackie stands his ground.

“You are scared!  Jackie is scared! He is so scared.”  Alex spins around telling the world.

“AM not!  I’ll show you.  I’ll show you! ” Jackie doesn’t move.

“Chicken!  Or do they need gloom too!” Alex crosses his arms.  His stiff body  says ‘I dare you’.

“Ok. I’ll do it…” Jackie slowly walks over to the tree.

The ball rolls closer to the tree.  One green flash comes from the tree.  An eye clear as day blinks twice.

“Little Jackie Paper?”  something in the tree speaks.

Two boys run.

Blood on the Tracks- Power Short

Written as part of a challenge called Saturday Mix, details are available at https://mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com/2017/01/14/saturday-mix-january-14-2016/

There was a time I felt powerless.  Life bound me like Jacob Marley’s chain.  My own hand forged my paralysis. My hand searches my brain for the key.  There is no Christmas goose to buy for the local cripple.

I look at my surrounds.  Alien.  As if dropped off here, I would ask for help.   Really.  This time, I need the help.  We all have puzzle pieces to find a place for. I know few things.   I look down the tracks.  One thing is clear.   It’s 2:05PM.

I’m blinded with a flash.  My head hurts briefly.

The 515 reaches Oakland platform a tad late.  The blood on the tracks, my only sign of me now.

A meager spark of light begets day.  Queasy, needing nicotine.  Gelatinous thoughts released from quarters…. Riding mealy worms enacting dreams of fusion.

I persue life as a scapegrace.  I act out my parapraxis dance. “Have you a cigarette?  I lost mine here…somewhere?  I think.”
