“Someone is walking over my grave!” she snaps to attention as if hit by an unseen object. “Oh, whom could it be?”

Her mind flutters. Upon her scattered table, she fetches a black looking glass.

“I see your reflection! By what subterfuge does your heart plot for me?” Her green eyes glow as they delve into clandestine shadows.

Her left hand reaches through the glass clutching a crimson thread.

“Ha! Upon my pyre will I roast this piece of you. Tighter than a corset… it will wrap inside you. Cacophony of imps will craft your tune!” She smiles like it hurts her soul.

“Father, your gifted arkwright hands have found another wretched soul to add to the favissa. I will pass a box of their ashes upon the faciene sacrabs and broken crosses of long ago.” She pauses in mid sentence.

“Esmeralda, you dumb bitch you left the window open. There’s no-one is over your grave!” she stomps her feet on the ground and gets up to close the source of the chill down her back.

“I wonder whom I cursed then?” she shrugs “Probably deserves it anyway.”

Farewell – Photo Challenge #180

Dear People,

My time has come. You’ve spent eons trying to understand me. I have wrote my messages in blood, white chalk, paint and tried digital for awhile. The whole was “the End is near”. With humanity it always was. Every sense of fear created conquest, war, famine and death. My saddlecloth changes and your names do, as well. In my bid adieu, I cast the last light upon the end of your path.

My nature is much that of your languages. The ability to redefine what it is the I may be. In a final attempt to reveal the truth, I appear as I should to your modern words. You may not look upon my face, lest you may remember my true name. Your time for heroics past. Like your history and adherse to the myths of belief, you will rise into the air as dust.

Farewell. My efforts to teach you the importance of tomorrow and banding together have failed. Tomorrow, finally will come. Remember how you wanted to live your last day. It’s close.

In an instant, greed makes a heavy passage into the conversation.  His words like an insect assailing the cheek.  They meander helplessly before landing.

“You’re screwing the rest of us.” I tell him. “Skin a razor, you say.”

Demented is another word for Lutalica.

Photo Challenge #129 – Siren’s Call

She sits on the banks.  Waiting, oh so patiently waiting.  Her long white dress dances in the wind.  Gliding across the surface of the water.  LIke a skater at times she sails.  The air fills of mysterious new comers, she lays near the edge.  Her words flow out.  A cord of words wrapped in hope and desire.  A rope wrapped in want.  Snaring the the boat She toys with it.  The Sailors left to be a kite in the wind.  Her smile make her happy.  Maybe she let them loose….probably not.

Forty days of rain, more than a month of deluge.  The grey sky impregnate panels of clouds.  Light is sparse. I fill with sorry feeling, reviling the water.  If medusa could just cast her gaze and solidify it.  Cover it in a lacquer.  What a photo it would make.  The only craziness of interment held at bay by the chrysalism.  The lashing continues on the roof.

Wordle #94 – Little General

image

Part of a challenge.   Using at least ten of twelve words to craft flash fiction, poem or other piece.

The tenebrous domain bred a certain kind of toxicity.  Most people would bide their time.  Joseph would have none of it.  His histrionic performance could swarm emotions.  Faint glimmer of hope was left behind.  Tirades of humid air fell like iron on an anvil.  Ultimately his downfall would lock on the inability to adapt.

Screaming – Photo Challenge#95

image

Their little faces stared out.
They have patiently waited.
Their day in the Sun has come.
The only thing missing was attention.
They turned toward the home.
They opened the little mouths.

A scream from inside came out.
A scream for fertilizer.
A scream for water.
A scream just to be heard.
A scream so you knew they were there.
A scream that went unheard.

His face was well hid by a hood.  He felt other things were not.  The robe channelled a cold draft with the air of humiliation.   The fear of his genitals exposed hindered his movement.   The initiates line broke in half.

He sprawled. Palm striking the altar’s base.  The act started sacrosanct.   His attempt at genuflection propelled him into the loculus.  Jagged brass swans tore at him.  Inside the drawer, the idol of Abaros looked at his irreverent act.

The fellows turned toward him.  They outreach right arms pointed.  They voices raised “False Profit”

Part of challenge for details see below https://mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com/2016/01/11/wordle-93-january-11-2016/

His face was hid from view.  The robe didn’t cover so well elsewhere.   The cold draft started to humiliate him.   The fear of genitals be exposed hindered the ability to stay in line with the others.

He stumbled toward the archway, a bare palm landing at the base of an alter.  A failed attempt at genuflecting propelled him forward.  It was sacrosanct.   His face plowed into the loculus. Jagged brass swans dragged across his face.  As if the relic of Abaros saw him as irreverent, he body collapsed.

The fellow initiates looked upon his false calling.  He had told a few he was drawn to the relic.  It was clear the relic did not feel the same.
