Her eyes hold me in place. I try to notice everything else in vain. Her deliberate quiet speaks of ill will. Her half smile is no more than a gateway to an emotion above or below.
The silence outlasts my patience. “You been in the shadows too long. They wear you like a mask now. Maybe someday the mirror will let you see what the rest of the world sees.” I measure my words closely.
There is no reaction. Hell, I’m not sure if she breaths half the time.
The eyes stare removing as many layers of me as they can. There were several more a long time ago. The shadows took those too.

Interesting piece. She’s unmasking him,not the other way around!

Very much so. Direct stares tend to so that

Yes often, depends on the person. But if you’re a poker player, in life you might be bluffing.

She’s not bluffing. There’s almost a total lack of emotional content in those eyes. Bluffing is a distraction. Body language altered. She’s a predator

I feel bad for you. Where I used to live was 11 degrees (-14 C), it was 52 here

Thank you Mark lol. You know the first couple of weeks of really cold weather is hard on people because we’ve had about two-years of winters where most days weren’t worse than -10 to – 15 degrees Celsius, but were generally above zero. Now we are getting paid back in full, but surprisingly, you do get used to the cold weather. It’s taking longer this year but we’re hearty. It’s having months of it from December until Possibly April which is frustrating along with shovelling snow.
However, we have a lot of Canadian snowbirds too, so those who can afford to or who are retired, often go for a couple months somewhere hot or above zero — Phoenix, Vegas, Dallas, different places in California, even Australia.
Enjoy your nice weather 🙂
