The Sky That Fell

Today the sky fell

Chicken little was right

Grey mortar board clouds

Split into pieces

Raining down upon the ground

The air didn’t stir much

The leaves didn’t rustle

Tiny plops and pings whispered

Plants became glossy specks across fields

Above white filled voids of fallen grey

Still falls the rain upon a lazy village

Barely a soul ventures out to be washed clean

A somber grey becomes fluffy white

Distant colors race upon a rainbow

The sun tears a hole of blue around it

The sky fell today and it looks better now
