“Wait, I’ll go check on the kitties.” I walk down the hall to the rescue babies.

The checkered blanket in the box, rolls around like a machine.  My mind sees babies wrestling together, rough housing as babies do.  Lifting a corner of the blanket, three adorable sets of eyes look at me. Pipe cleaner tails stand on end.  Across their faces bits of a checkbook turned cat toy.
