Nothing Good Happens After Midnight

Written as part of a challenge called Moral Mondays, https://moralmondays.wordpress.com/2016/05/08/moral-mondays-mommy-lessons/

This week’s theme “Nothing Good Happens After 2AM” and the 100 words or so are.

Rainy streets reflect strobing red and blue lights.  The street still.  Buildings on both sides look on.  A few faces poke out of old windows.

The crash echoed a few minutes ago.  One sole figures sit on a wet curb.  A couple men shine flashlights to and fro. A radio crackles.  Voices lost in static.

“Kid, how fast were you going again?” The office shouts from beside a car that is no longer in one piece.

“I don’t know.  But I’m gonna have to call my mom about her car.  She doesn’t know I had it.” One very nervous kid working on how to explain this.

“Did she ever tell you nothing good happens after Midnight!”  The voice and flashlight move away.
